Orchid Pool is a mature and intimate 5-acre clay and gravel pit located on the Carp Arena complex in Western Belgium, just across the French border and only one hour from Calais. It’s the newest lake on the complex to be completed, and only opened to fishing in the summer of 2025. Since it opened, the lake has thrown up some fantastic catches, including some stunning, big carp to over 50lb!

Following significant work on the lake, landscaping of the swims and an ongoing stocking programme, we were very excited to open the fishing on this lake and see what it had to offer. It’s fair to say we haven’t been disappointed, with many of the fish that were stocked as twenties hitting high thirties and even 40lb, and a mid-30 being caught over 50lb!! What’s more, there’s even the odd rumour of some larger original fish being seen – we can’t wait to receive some more of your catch reports and find out what else is swimming around in this lake!

Orchid is booked exclusively between 4 friends as it has only 4 single swims; two pairs situated on opposite banks to give every angler their own quarter of the lake. Embryo has completely de-snagged the margins to keep the fish in open water, making them far more catchable and much easier to land.

Being a mature lake, it can get weedy in the height of summer, so bear that in mind when booking. As always though, we will do our utmost to ensure all swims have plenty of weed-free, fishable water, and the boats are there should you need them to go out and aid safe landing of any fish.

Rowing boats are supplied (outboard engines not supplied but life vests/jackers are) within the cost of booking the lake, but they can only be used for baiting up or to aid landing fish on Orchid Pool. You can’t drop rigs with them. Remote/bait boats are also not permitted on Orchid either.

Existing Carp Arena customers will be impressed with the improvements Embryo have made with a brand new toilet and shower block, Embryo-style compost toilets around the site, fridge, freezer and battery charging stations, all at no extra cost. All tracks and swims have been enhanced and all Orchid Pool anglers will be happy to know they can park very close to their swims.
