Lilly Pool is a mature and intimate 6-acre clay and gravel pit located on the Carp Arena complex in Western Belgium, just across the French border and only one hour from Calais. It had never been commercially fished prior to Embryo opening the fishery in 2024 and as a result, the fishing on this venue is still very productive when you get your tactics right. 

The original stock consisted of 50 or so ‘originals’, comprising a mixture of big, classic-looking Belgian fish and long, scaly mirrors originally from Valkenswaard; the same bloodline as the Leney’s. In the winter of ‘23, Embryo stocked an additional forty carp between 30 – 40lb, plus another forty from 20 – 30lb to really enhance the stock. These are beautiful and fast-growing fish, with amazing scaling and we expect many more of them to be breaking through the 40lb barrier.

Lilly is booked exclusively between 4 friends; it has two double swims situated in close proximity on the meadow bank, ensuring the ideal social environment. Embryo has completely cut off a snaggy arm as well as de-snagging the margins to keep the fish in open water, making them far more catchable and much easier to land.

Rowing boats are supplied (outboard engines not supplied) within the cost of booking the lake. They can be used for baiting, rig placement and battling with angry carp. Remote boats are also allowed to reflect the European style of angling.

Existing Carp Arena customers will be impressed with the improvements Embryo have made with a brand new toilet and shower block, Embryo-style compost toilets around the site, fridge, freezer and battery charging stations, all at no extra cost. All tracks and swims have been enhanced and Lilly Pool anglers will be happy to know they can park just a short walk from their swims.
