Rose Mere (Formerly Bull Trap) is a mature, 7-acre clay and gravel pit located on the Carp Arena complex in Western Belgium, just across the French border and only one hour from Calais. Rose Mere has a large stock of big carp, with roughly 250 fish present to over 50lb. The most recent stocking of a fast-growing Hungarian strain has transformed the fishing with the biggest fish now over 25kg (55lb), and many more breaking through the 20kg (44lb) barrier.

Prior to the work we’ve carried out, Rose Mere had only been fished for the last few years from one double swim and was very snaggy. We’ve de-snagged the margins all the way around the lake to encourage fish movement and have created 5 brand new swims on opposite banks, so that every part of the lake is covered whilst giving every angler plenty of water to explore. These new swims are large and comfortable; big enough for large two-man bivvies and open enough to cast anywhere in your water.

This lake is booked exclusively between 5 anglers for one week at a time, and you decide on the swim allocation when you arrive. To respect all styles of angling, rowing boats are supplied at no extra charge for baiting, rig placement and battles with carp. Remote boats are also allowed (but not supplied).



Rose Mere is closest to the Lodge, offering a large ‘social’ area with a pub style bench and an undercover BBQ, so you and your mates can get together, enjoy some good food and maybe a drink or two. Rose Mere is aimed at a group of friends who want to target big carp without extreme conditions so they can enjoy a holiday whilst catching some great fish.

Existing customers will be impressed with the improvements Embryo have made, with a brand new toilet and shower block, Embryo-style compost toilets around the site, plus fridge, freezer and battery charging stations, all at no extra cost. All tracks and swims have been enhanced and all Rose Mere anglers will be happy to know they can park very close to their swims.
